Australian Mom Removes The Make Up On ‘Bratz’ Dolls To Give Them A More Realistic Look

I actually find dolls creepy. Just think of Annabelle and Chucky. Dolls are also created in our image which gives us a subconscious connection with them so imagining them in a real life situation is not hard at all.

This scenario probably happens all the time too. Imagine this - the hottest bunch of girls in school (represented by the Bratz dolls) reprimanded by their moms, all their fancy make-up and clothes taken away. Wish they could do the padded bras as well...

This project is good in another way as well - it recycles all those plastic dolls.

Artist Sonia Singh along with her mom picks up discarded and pre-owned dolls in order to give them a new lease of life. Gone is the gaudy, unrealistic make up making way for these little dolls to finally be 'children.' Sonia repaints the dolls faces by hand, molds new shoes and gives them a good general clean up while her mom knits and sews clothes which are more appropriate for little girls.

Sonia says,
“My sisters and I grew up playing with second-hand dolls and home-made toys in the beautiful Tasmanian natural environment. I love the satisfaction of repairing and reusing discarded items to give them a new lease on life.”
